Volunteer as a CAC member
Assist us in developing LCDs
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released change request (CR) 10901 and the companion MLN Matters article to expand the parameters of who may serve as a Medicare Contractor Advisory Committee (CAC) member. The purpose of the CAC is to provide a formal mechanism for healthcare professionals to be informed of the evidence used in consideration of a proposed LCD and to promote communications between the Medicare administrative contractor (MAC) and the healthcare community. CAC members serve in an advisory capacity as representatives of their constituency to review the quality of the evidence regarding a topic under consideration for development of a proposed LCD.
First Coast invites you to volunteer as a CAC primary or alternate member to represent your organization during our CAC meetings.
Clinical healthcare professionals interested in serving as a CAC member should submit the following via email to: MedicalAffairs@guidewellsource.com:
- Nomination letter from their affiliated national or state society / specialty organization
- Their contact information (name, email address, phone number, etc.)
- Their area of specialty
- Name of medical practice, if applicable
- Individual NPI number and, if applicable, group NPI number
Non-clinical healthcare professionals interested in serving as a CAC member should submit the following via email to: MedicalAffairs@guidewellsource.com:
- Signed letter from their entity, on letterhead, stating support of requestor’s interest to be a CAC member
- Requestor’s contact information (name, email address, phone number, etc.)
- Requestor’s title (if any) and/or professional background
Beneficiary CAC members can be someone on Medicare and/or a retired clinician or retired non-clinical healthcare professional interested in serving on the CAC. Those interested should send the following to: MedicalAffairs@guidewellsource.com:
- Their contact information (name, email address, phone number, etc.)
After we complete our vetting process, conflict of interest and consent to disclose and publish expert opinion forms will be sent to new clinical healthcare professionals, non-clinical healthcare professionals, and beneficiary CAC members for completion. These forms are necessary since regulations prohibit us from using opinions without consent.
